Huge Tottenham transfer news sees medicals rescheduled for deadline day as Levy talks prompt a U-turn on the £39 million fee.

The move had been expected to be finalized on Monday after the two clubs agreed on a £ 39 million fee for the Spaniard. However, the day began with a report from The Athletic that the transfer had collapsed after Sporting pulled the plug.

Porro had already agreed on personal terms by that stage and was said to be devastated by the news.

That led to the defender missing training in Portugal as he hoped the deal could be resurrected. And his wish appears to have been granted.

David Ornstein, who initially broke the news of the deal collapsing, has confirmed it is back on. Meanwhile, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has given the move his traditional ‘here we go’.

The 23-year-old’s medical has now been re-booked for Tuesday as Antonio Conte bags his top wing-back target.

The Italian made Porro a priority signing after being impressed by his two performances against Spurs in the Champions League this season.

One in, one out as Spence heads to France

He will slot straight into the squad as a replacement for summer signing Djed Spence. The former Middlesbrough man is close to finalizing a loan switch to French club Rennes.

Porro will join Dutchman Arnaut Danjuma in north London, with the forward marking his Tottenham debut with a goal in the 3-0 FA Cup win at Preston on Saturday.

The arrival of the Sporting star will almost certainly relegate both Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal to the bench, with the Spain international outperforming Conte’s other two right wing-back options.

Tottenham may not be finished with transfers, with a deal for Bayer Leverkusen center-back Piero Hincapie still being discussed.

Newcastle has also been linked with the player in what could become an interesting battle on deadline day.

Conte’s men are back in action on Sunday when they host Porro’s former club Manchester City in the Premier League.
