The midfielder is on his way to St James’ Park ahead of Newcastle United’s deadline day transfer.

Jonjo Shelvey will return to Newcastle United tonight after joining Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.

The 30-year-old midfielder has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Nottingham Forest, ending a seven-year stint at Newcastle. Shelvey has made over 200 appearances for the club, but his game time this season has been limited due to injury.

But Shelvey will get one last send-off at St James’ Park tonight when Newcastle faces Southampton in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. According to Sky Sports, Shelvey will return to Newcastle tonight to watch the game and say his goodbyes to the Magpies’ staff, players, and fans as the club attempt to reach its first major final in 24 years.
