Man City ‘have an interest’ in a 19-year-old midfielder, with Pep Guardiola ‘wanting’ goal-scoring midfielders.

Manchester City failed to sign a player on deadline day, but according to Mail Online’s Jack Gaughan and Tom Collomosse, the Sky Blues ‘have an interest’ in Jude Bellingham and are expected to make a move this summer. Pep Guardiola is said to ‘want’ more goals from midfield because City has become overly reliant on Erling Haaland (27 games, 31 goals, 3 assists).

Bellingham would be an ideal signing for Pep because he is already one of Europe’s best box-to-box midfielders. Since joining on a five-year deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2020, the 19-year-old has made 114 appearances in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and assisting 22 times.

He’s second on the team in goals (4), second in assists (3), first in tackles (3.1 per game), fourth in chances created (1 per game), second in interceptions (1.4 per game), first in successful dribbles (2.2 per game), fourth in passes made (52.6 per game), and first in fouls won (2.9 per game), so it’s easy to see why City would be interested.

However, Bellingham is not cheap. Dortmund paid £25 million for the midfielder three years ago, but now want £100-£150 million for him. The city has the financial resources to match his asking price, but they’ll have to outbid Real Madrid and Liverpool.
