Late Leicester transfer fails as player is forced to stay; £15 million replacement deal already agreed.

Caglar Soyuncu, a defender for Leicester City, will not leave the club on deadline day, but the Foxes have already agreed to sign a replacement.

Soyuncu has made only a few appearances for Leicester this season. He has only appeared in three games across all competitions, with only one of them coming in the Premier League.

The center-back has been out with a knee injury. However, his lack of game time is mostly due to Brendan Rodgers’ lack of trust in him.

Instead, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri prefers to play Wout Faes and Jonny Evans in the center of defense. In the absence of Evans, Rodgers has chosen Daniel Amartey to partner Faes rather than Soyuncu or Jannik Vestergaard.

Because of the circumstances, Soyuncu is expected to leave Leicester during the winter transfer window. His most likely next club appears to be Atletico Madrid.

The Turk, on the other hand, will remain in the King’s Power for the remainder of the season. According to Fabrizio Romano, he will not be joining Atletico on the transfer deadline day.

The Spanish club will be unable to sign Soyuncu without violating the La Liga salary cap rules. As a result, Soyuncu has been forced to remain in place.

He will, however, get his transfer. Romano adds that he is expected to join Atleti on a free transfer in the summer when his contract with Leicester expires.

There has also been some talk regarding Vestergaard. Like Soyuncu, it would make sense for him to leave Leicester so he can become a regular first-team player elsewhere.

According to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, Leicester agreed on a deal with Hertha Berlin for Vestergaard. But he has turned down the chance to join the German Bundesliga club.

Dorsett claims there will be other options for Vestergaard before the transfer window closes, so this is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Leicester was clearly expecting one of Soyuncu or Vestergaard to move on as they have brought in a center-back replacement. BBC Sport reveals there is a £20m agreement between Leicester and Stoke for Australia defender Harry Souttar.

His relocation to the East Midlands will cost Leicester an initial £15 million, with the cost potentially rising to £20 million through add-ons. Dundee United will receive £3 million of the fee due to a sell-on clause.

Meanwhile, Romano has clarified the situation surrounding Leeds winger Jack Harrison, who is being pursued by Leicester.
