‘He’s a complete player,’ says Paratici of a Tottenham youngster who has never played under Conte.

Tottenham Hotspur director Fabio Paratici has spoken out on 20-year-old Destiny Udogie, who joined the club last summer.

Tottenham’s appointment of Paratici as Managing Director of Football has made the Italian market more accessible. He is more familiar with Serie A than any of us, and he has already brought in a number of players from his home country.

Spurs signed Udogie from Udinese for an initial fee of £15 million in the summer (Sky Sports). He was loaned back to the Italian club for the remainder of the season, but he is expected to return to Tottenham in the summer.

Fabio Paratici makes a decision on Tottenham loanee Destiny Udogie.
Tottenham still has Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon as left-wing-back, as well as Ben Davies, who mostly plays as a center-back these days.

Spurs, on the other hand, couldn’t pass up the opportunity to sign Destiny Udogie last summer because they believe he has the potential to become a real star in the coming years.

In yesterday’s interview with the club’s official website, Paratici was asked about Udogie. He revealed that Spurs scouts are constantly watching him and hailed the youngster as a ‘complete player’.

“Yes, we watch every game, so scouts are in charge of loans,” Paratici explained.

“So we follow him, he is doing very well, he is playing every game so I think this is the right way for him to improve and to be ready for next season.

“He’s a wing-back with a really, really, really good left foot, offensive phases that are really good, he creates a lot of chances to score and make assists, so he’s a complete player.”

TBR Opinion: Tottenham is providing Antonio Conte with a team that has the potential to thrive.

The Italian has frequently complained about Spurs’ recruitment, but with Udogie and now Pedro Porro, the club now has two excellent wing-backs capable of meeting Conte’s demands.

Udogie, who has yet to play for Tottenham, has made 17 appearances for Udinese in all competitions this season and has contributed directly to four goals. He’s really impressing everyone in Italy, and the fact that he’s only 20 means he’ll only get better with time.

It’ll be interesting to see what Spurs do with Udogie this summer.
