Barcelona has made preliminary contact in order to sign the ‘Brazilian Luis Suarez’ next summer.

According to Joaquim Piera of SPORT, Barcelona is stepping up its efforts to sign Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense this summer and has already opened preliminary talks with the Brazilian club.

The club coaches have compared the 17-year-old Brazilian to former Barcelona striker and club legend Luis Suarez due to his predatory instincts in the box and mentality.

And the Blaugrana have made him one of their top summer targets, hoping to sign him to provide cover for Robert Lewandowski and eventually replace him as Camp Nou’s first-choice striker.

Barcelona was previously reported to be planning to make the signing of Roque in the summer financially viable for the club.

According to the report, Barcelona has spoken with the Brazilian club’s football coordinator, Luiz Felipe Scolari, as well as their CEO, Alexandre Mattos.

These contacts are interpreted as a declaration of the Blaugrana’s desire to sign the young jewel before next season.
