Manchester United star Anthony Martial has been placed on the market as Erik ten Hag seeks a world-class striker this summer.
The Frenchman has failed to play 90 minutes this season and has only scored six goals in an injury-plagued campaign.
Martial returned from injury in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest last Wednesday, but he was absent from the squad that defeated Crystal Palace three days later due to another injury setback.
Ten Hag admires Martial and believes United’s attack works best with the Frenchman at the center.
However, Martial has demonstrated this season that he cannot be relied on, and the club pushed to sign Wout Weghorst on loan in January.
With Ten Hag’s funds likely to be limited this summer, United understands the importance of raising funds to sign a top center forward and central midfielder.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Martial will be a victim of the club’s finances and will be sold in order to raise revenue.
Other players who are likely to leave include Harry Maguire, Alex Telles, and Anthony Elanga.
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong remains Ten Hag’s priority target in midfield, but the Dutchman has enjoyed something of a comeback at Camp Nou this season.
