Gary Neville observed Jurgen Klopp’s actions ‘for the first time’ following Liverpool’s defeat at Wolves.

Liverpool reached a new low following their defeat against the Wolves and Gary Neville pulled no punches in his assessment

Gary Neville has slammed Liverpool’s players, saying the signs are “worrying” following their 3-0 loss to Wolves on Saturday.

The Reds’ misery since the turn of the year reached new heights against Julen Lopetegui’s side, with goals from Craig Dawson, Ruben Neves, and a Joel Matip own goal. Wout Faes of Leicester City has scored more goals than any other player in Jurgen Klopp’s squad since the World Cup’s return, as similar dismal statistics pile up.

Wolves’ victory lifted them out of the relegation zone, while Liverpool’s hopes of a late surge into the top four were dashed. The former Manchester United full-back bemoaned the Reds’ “shambolic” performance.

“I only saw the highlights, which lasted about five to ten minutes. Defensively… they were shambolic, individually and collectively, making them easy to play against, and things aren’t looking good for them up front either “Neville stated on the Gary Neville Podcast.

“[Cody] Gakpo, [Darwin] Nunez, and [Mohamed] Saeed Salah and his teammates have yet to gel as a front three, which could take some time. However, the rest of the team is in disarray, as they are conceding extremely poor goals.

“To be fair, this is probably the first time I’ve seen Jurgen Klopp apologize after a game. Almost like the where do I begin reaction following the game. There are still internationals in that back four, all of them, and none of them are good enough, individually or collectively.

“There’s no excuse for that; there have been other teams with injuries that have coped better; I don’t know why they’ve gone to pieces,” he added. “People say this happened in his seventh year at Dortmund, but I dismiss all that nonsense.

“They obviously have the ownership issues, looking at other clubs and thinking ‘we need to spend more money, we need a rebuild’ and all that, but at the moment, I always think if you’re getting the best out of the current players you’ve got – Liverpool has a damn good squad – they’ve got some injuries, that’s a factor, but the players out there have to be doing a lot better than they are.

“That was insufficient from Liverpool Football Club, and their recent achievements have fallen far short of expectations; they must wake up… Liverpool is approaching the point where you think to yourself, “There are worrying signs and worrying performances, and individual performances are well.” lower than that.”
