Newcastle make an early move to sign a colossus who has already been compared to

Newcastle has held talks with Bayer Leverkusen about potentially signing Jonathan Tah during the summer transfer window.

According to 90Min, both the Magpies and Liverpool have already held talks about signing the 26-year-old German international.

Newcastle’s defense has been outstanding this season, and their long pursuit of Sven Botman has paid off handsomely.

Their central defensive partnership has been so effective that Dan Burn has been forced to play at left-back, a position he previously held for Brighton and performed admirably in.

Newcastle is in talks to sign Tah.
According to the report, Tah wants to move to the Premier League after a transitional season at Bayer, where Xabi Alonso has now taken over.

Nottingham Forest, West Ham, and Tottenham are also interested in the German central defender, so securing him will be difficult.

However, by the end of the season, Newcastle may be the only one of those clubs capable of providing Champions League football; they are currently the only one of the quintet in the top four.

“I see parallels between Jonathan and Virgil van Dijk,” Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz says in Tah’s Jona 99 documentary, produced by DAZN and distributed by Voetbal International.

“I’m familiar with Van Dijk because he’s from the Netherlands. He has taken steps, but he, too, has had to learn to be aggressive in defense. I’m confident Jonathan will succeed as well.

“I believe he performs best when he plays aggressively. If he continues to play like that, he will be a top player,” and if Tah develops to Van Dijk’s level, he will be a valuable asset to any Premier League club.
