Manchester United manager sent a warning message to a player ahead of

Brendan Rodgers’ men take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, buoyed by victories over Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has warned in-form striker Marcus Rashford not to be satisfied with his goal tally ahead of the Premier League clash with Leicester City.

City travel to Old Trafford on Sunday (2 p.m. kickoff) looking to extend their winning streak to three games. Brendan Rodgers’ men defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 on Saturday, a week after defeating Aston Villa 4-2 at Villa Park.

While City is in good form, they will be up against a red-hot striker in Rashford, who scored again in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Leeds United, extending his run to four goals in four Premier League games.

The goal brought England’s total for the season to 21 in all competitions. In fact, Rashford has only failed to score in one of United’s nine Premier League games since the league’s return following the World Cup.

Because of his form, City defenders Wout Faes and Harry Souttar will have to show the same tenacity that kept Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min quiet on Saturday. They are expected to continue their new central defensive partnership at Old Trafford, barring any injuries.

Despite his outstanding record, Ten Hag warned Rashford not to rest on his laurels following the victory over Leeds at Elland Road. “You asked me, ‘do you think you have a player in your squad who can score 20 goals?’ in August or September, and I confirmed,” Ten Hag said in a message to his striker. I think he can do that

“Now, if you are satisfied, it will stop. Because satisfaction leads to laziness, you must invest every day, and when he invests and maintains focus in every game, bringing energy and belief, he will score, he will score.

“So then I don’t know when it will stop but it has to go from game to game and during the week do the right things. I believe that as a manager and as a coaching staff, we must push him, but ultimately it is up to the player. When he loses focus, the scoring will come to a halt.”

While City has a full week to prepare for the trip to Old Trafford, United will be focused on their Europa League match against Barcelona at t

he Nou Camp.

Ten Hag’s team travels to Spain for a game on Thursday evening before facing City on Sunday afternoon. It means they’ll have to deal with a quick turnaround between games.
