Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez is set to leave the club at the end of the season, according to the Colombian publication El Futbolero.

The Colombian center-back has struggled at Tottenham, failing to live up to his high price tag and finding it difficult to get game time under current manager Antonio Conte.

As a result, both the club and the player appear to be ready to part ways during the summer transfer window.

Sanchez joined Tottenham for a fee of €42.00 million in 2017, making him one of the club’s most expensive signings ever. He was regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders at the time, with a bright future ahead of him.

However, things haven’t quite gone according to plan for the Colombian international, and he has failed to establish himself as a regular starter at Tottenham.

The report claims that the player has had a “hard time” at the club and that ‘everything has got worse’ since the arrival of Antonio Conte.

He has found himself falling down the pecking order, with the Italian manager preferring the likes of Cristian Romero and Clement Lenglet in the heart of the defense. This has led to frustration for the Colombian, who is reportedly keen to move on and start afresh elsewhere.

As per the report ‘everything indicates’ that the player will be leaving in the summer with the club hoping to coup around £20.7m for him.

From Tottenham’s perspective, the decision to sell Sanchez makes sense. The club is reportedly targeting a world-class center-back in the summer, and with Sanchez’s contract set to expire next year, it makes sense to cash in on him now rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2024.

For Sanchez, a move away from Tottenham could be just what he needs to reignite his career.

The Colombian has shown glimpses of his potential at Tottenham but has failed to deliver on a consistent basis. A fresh start at a new club could be just what he needs to rediscover his form and confidence.

Tottenham is already being linked with potential replacements for Sanchez, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie and Jonathan Tah. Both players are highly rated and would add some much-needed quality to Tottenham’s defense.

Overall, it seems that the time has come for Davinson Sanchez to move on from Tottenham. While he undoubtedly has the talent to succeed at the highest level, things just haven’t worked out for him at Spurs.

A move to a new club could be just what he needs to rediscover his form and prove his doubters wrong.
