Leeds United received a six-figure transfer fee as Mateusz Bogusz completed his permanent move to MLS side Los Angeles FC.

According to Transfermarkt journalist Manuel Veth, the Polish midfielder cost the American club £880,000 which was paid to Leeds.

The 21-year-old was on loan at UD Ibiza but that deal was terminated so that he could be signed by LAFC with an official announcement being made.

Via Twitter, Veth wrote, “Mateusz Bogusz is an interesting signing by LAFC. The 21-year-old has scored four goals in 18 U21 games for Poland. A talent, who just needs a stable environment. Transfermarkt understands that the MLS club paid around €1m for Bogusz to LUFC. Good deal.”

Makes sense

Bogusz was operating at a level that’s below the Championship and arguably is on par with League One.

For him to be first-team ready at Leeds, he would have to improve leaps and bounds and that wasn’t happening any time soon.

He was given chances to go out and prove his worth on loan and he’s not done it to an extent where he can knock on the manager’s door.

A move to the MLS will be good for him as a majority of the top European players go there when they’re in their final years while all the good players from there move to Europe.

Bogusz is a player whose best days are ahead of him and he can go on to have an illustrious career in the MLS and perhaps become one of their best players in a few years.

It’s a move that’s well-received there and it’s nice to see him and Mateusz Klich continuing their first-team experiences on another continent which will do wonders for football there.
