Graham Potter has been sacked as Chelsea boss and he will surely come under consideration by Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Blues decided to part ways with Potter on Sunday night, just a day after a 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa.

Potter just hasn’t managed to find consistency at Chelsea and has been given his marching orders after just seven months in charge.

Chelsea has tried to remain patient with Potter but Saturday’s defeat to Villa has proven to be the final straw.

Todd Boehly will now go and throw money at a manager and attempt to finally get his rather expensive Chelsea project up and running.

As for Potter, he will go away and reflect on a testing period as Chelsea’s boss, with offers no doubt coming in for him very soon…

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR SHOULD CONSIDER GRAHAM POTTER

There is one glaring vacancy that Potter should be in contention for, and it’s not too far from Chelsea.

Tottenham has axed Antonio Conte and is now assessing potential candidates to replace the Italian.

Daniel Levy will be looking at a whole host of names and he must be considering Potter.

Football London reported in 2021 that many Tottenham players liked Potter’s approach at Brighton and wanted him to become Spurs boss.

Spurs instead went for Nuno Espirito Santo, which was a truly terrible move.

The Brighton version of Potter fits what Tottenham is surely now seeking in terms of finding that Mauricio Pochettino-type figure.

Jose Mourinho, Nuno, and Antonio Conte haven’t played the kind of football Tottenham fans want to see and Potter’s teams tend to play very attacking football.

Look at how many players developed under Potter too; Ben White, Leandro Trossard, Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, and Yves Bissouma all spring to mind.

That kind of coach figure is what Spurs should be seeking now rather than a so-called ‘winner’ like Mourinho or Conte.

The goals haven’t flowed at Chelsea but Potter’s reputation shouldn’t be dismantled by this sacking.

Potter walked into a club with no pre-season preparations and has been plied with a wide range of expensive signings that have been difficult to juggle.

That’s not to absolve Potter of any blame here but going from Brighton to Chelsea is a move that many saw major problems with back in September.

Going from the calculated, slower style at Brighton to the enormous signings and immediate expectations at Chelsea just didn’t seem right.

Potter and Chelsea just haven’t been fit but Tottenham makes more sense if they can get on the same page about developing younger players and taking a more patient approach, which is the way Spurs should now go.

Going for another former Chelsea manager won’t exactly go down well after Andre Villas-Boas, Mourinho, and Conte in years gone by.

Potter shouldn’t just walk into the Tottenham job but he is a name Levy and co should at least consider interviewing in the coming weeks having been let go by the Blues.
