Next Leicester City manager: Club to approach 47-yr-old – Exclusive

Leicester City is set to sound out Graham Potter following an astonishing day of Premier League sackings, sources have told Football Insider.

The 47-year-old was dismissed from his post at Chelsea just hours after Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Leicester.

Potter is already a top contender for the Leicester post and is set to be contacted by the club to ascertain his interest in taking over.

The Foxes are in the hunt for a replacement for Rodgers, 50, who was let go after Saturday’s late defeat to Crystal Palace.

The loss extended the club’s winless run to seven matches, an alarming sequence that triggered crisis talks and the end of Rodgers’ four-year tenure.

Leicester dropped into the relegation zone following the defeat on Saturday (1 April) and is now second bottom with just 25 points from 28 games.

The next manager faces an uphill battle to keep the Foxes in the English top flight.

Chelsea has been struggling under their new boss since his arrival in September following Thomas Tuchel’s sacking.

Tuchel, who won the Champions League with the Blues, was replaced by the former Brighton boss who put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the London club.

But, a poor string of Premier League results sees them 11th in the table and out of a European spot with less than ten games to go this season.

Although Potter has guided the Blues to the Champions League quarter-final, where they face holders Real Madrid next week (12 April), fans had been feeling let down by the side’s poor league form that culminated in a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Both clubs have begun their search for a new boss but face a race against time to appoint a manager before the end of the season.
