Explained: How £85k-a-week Tottenham ‘baller’ could become the best in the world under Amorim

If Tottenham Hotspur brings in Ruben Amorim as their next manager, Pedro Porro could become the best right wing-back in the world.

A report claimed on Saturday that the Sporting CP manager was being seriously considered as an option to take over the job in N17.

Porro could become the best right wing-back in the world if Tottenham appoints Amorim

This is excellent news for Pedro Porro, who has worked under Tottenham Hotspur-linked Ruben Amorim at Sporting.

In fact, the £85,000-a-week (Record) man achieved his potential of being one of Europe’s most exciting flying full-backs in the first place under the Portuguese coach’s guidance.

So far at Spurs, the Spaniard has shown signs of being the real deal, especially going forward, albeit being slightly suspect at the back.

The adventurous wing-back was rightly branded as a ‘baller’ by Jermaine Jenas.

However, Pedro Porro, as is currently the case at Tottenham will also likely occupy the same right-wing-back role he did under Ruben Amorim, currently he employs a 3-4-1-2 setup.

Pep Guardiola himself admitted that the player his side themselves let go is ‘perfect’ for a five-at-the-back side.

Sure, it is fair to say that amidst the flashes of brilliance, it is not as if the ex-Manchester City talent has set the world alight.

But it is key to emphasize that the 23-year-old’s arrival coincided with things turning well and truly sour under Antonio Conte.

As for Cristian Stellini, he is merely a caretaker manager, and not a single player is particularly pulling up any trees under his guidance.

While his Tottenham teammates may have to adapt to the tactics in place set by Ruben Amorim, Pedro Porro knows his system like the back of his hand.

If that isn’t enough, the club is yet to conduct a squad overhaul, which remains key as the current crop simply is not ready for serious business in any competition.

With Ruben Amorim potentially backed at Tottenham, and Pedro Porro not even being close to peaking whilst working under a manager he has succeeded under, there is no reason to believe why he would not reach the very top.
