Leicester City manager’s instructions have been revealed as a world-class striker sneaks into lineup.

John Terry’s Leicester City instructions revealed as striker jokes he could sneak into the line-up

The former England captain has arrived alongside Dean Smith and Craig Shakespeare as part of the new coaching team at Leicester City, and he’s getting hands-on at the training ground

John Terry is pushing Leicester City’s defenders hard in the search for a clean sheet with the former England captain keen to get on the pitch himself to help the club’s cause.

Terry arrived with new manager Dean Smith last week and has been tasked with improving the club’s defenders. They’re on a run of 16 league games without a clean sheet, City’s longest such streak for 29 years.

Striker Kelechi Iheanacho said the former Chelsea center-back, who hung up his boots in 2018, has been heavily involved in training and still has what it takes to perform at a Premier League level.

“He’s got it in him as well,” Iheanacho told talkSPORT. “He trains with us a little bit as well and he’s still got it! He can ping a few balls down the channel.

“He’s a great man, he’s a legend, he’s done it all. We’re happy to have him in our group. He really pushes everybody, especially the defenders. He wants the defenders to always get the tackle in and be aggressive and give everything.

“He’s still got it. He looks like he wants to get on the pitch to do it. Maybe he can sneak in at center-back! He’s a great guy.

“He knows when to come in and talk to you. He doesn’t need to talk all of the time. He knows what he needs to tell you.”

Also joining Smith and Terry at the club is Craig Shakespeare, who was the manager in charge of City when Iheanacho joined from Manchester City in a £25m transfer. The trio works well together, Iheanacho said, with the Nigerian impressed by Smith so far.

The striker added: “He’s a really good manager. He has a good personality. They are a very good group. They’ve told us what they want.

“We have a few games left so we have to do it together. He’s a fantastic manager. He talks to everybody and encourages everybody.”
