Stan Collymore has said that Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney would be a good signing for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, adding that he could be for the Magpies what Andy Robertson is for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The former Liverpool striker rates Tierney highly, and he has written in CaughtOffSide that the £25 million (Sky Sports) Scotland international left-back would make Newcastle better.

The 25-year-old has actually been linked with a move to Newcastle in the summer transfer window.

The Athletic reported in March that the Magpies want to sign Tierney in the summer transfer window and consider him as an ideal signing.

Newcastle United urged to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal

Collymore wrote: “If Newcastle were serious about raising eyebrows and continuing with known British-based or Premier League players rather than the likes of say Mbappe, I think Kieran Tierney would be very good.

“He’s been unlucky with injuries at Arsenal but I like him a lot and I think he could do an Andy Robertson if he found the right club.”

HITC Verdict: Summer transfer could happen

In our view, Newcastle United could be able to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The former Celtic left-back is not playing regularly for the Gunners at the moment, and that is unlikely to change next season.

A move to Newcastle and becoming part of a grand project while playing week in and week out could be hugely appealing to Tierney.

Moreover, the Magpies could end up playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
