Tottenham Hotspur learn asking price for 27-year-old Inter Milan star

Tottenham Hotspur learn the asking price for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur has learned the asking price for talented Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

It’s no secret that Tottenham have been struggling with their goalkeeping department this season, with Hugo Lloris making costly mistakes on more than one occasion. Fans have been calling for the club to bring in a new shot-stopper, and Onana could be just the man they need.

The 27-year-old retired Cameroon international has been in fine form for Inter Milan this season and has caught the eye of several top clubs across Europe. However, Tottenham and Chelsea seem to be the front runners for his signature.

Chelsea’s interest in Onana comes as no surprise, with the future of their current number one not clear. In fact, who their number one is itself is not clear at the moment with Kepa and Eduardo Mendy fighting for one spot.

Tottenham, on the other hand, has been linked with several goalkeepers in recent months, including the likes of Mike Maignan and Nick Pope. However, Onana seems to be their top target, and the latest report suggests that they have learned his asking price.

The reported asking price of €35-40 million may seem steep, but it’s a price that Tottenham can afford. With Lloris now 36 years old and showing signs of decline, it’s important for the club to invest in a new goalkeeper who can be their number one for years to come.

Onana has proven himself at Ajax and now Inter and has the potential to become one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. He’s agile, confident, and has a great command of his area, which are all qualities that Tottenham desperately need in their goalkeeping department.

Of course, competition from Chelsea will be tough, and it remains to be seen who will come out on top in the race to sign Onana. However, Tottenham has a lot to offer the Cameroonian international, including the chance to be the first-choice goalkeeper at a top Premier League club.
