Leicester City attacker explains why he had to leave Foxes

Soon-to-be former Leicester City forward Ayoze Perez has commented on his exit from the Foxes on loan. Here is what he has said and what we think about the move.

The Spaniard was a key part of the side for a couple of seasons after joining the side alongside James Justin. The pair made quite the impression on me, I saw the two working well together on the same side, and though this was short-lived, ‘Ayo’ continued to play a constant though unimpressive role.

The player would eventually fall out of favor with Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman had decided to play James Maddison as a right-winger instead of utilizing Perez. The King Power club would soon see the Spanish forward choose to depart the side in January.

What Leicester City’s loanee said

Perez joined Real Betis on loan, and with his contract with the Foxes expiring at the end of the season, the player will be available for free. It is expected the loan deal will be made a permanent switch. After all, the player has been very loving in his remarks for the Spanish club, and blunt about his waning time with Leicester City.“the coach wanted me to come here at all times… He did everything possible… This is where I wanted to be, where I feel loved… he let me know how much he wanted me to be part of his team”

Where Rodgers had made the player an outcast from the Premier League side, Real Betis were constantly in talks to bring Perez into their team. This constant attention and pushing clearly illustrates a desire to have the Spanish player in the team, and for Perez that was important.

To constantly be told you were not good enough in training, and on the pitch, and to be ignored by the supporters, it would have been tough. He went somewhere he would be wanted by the team, the coach, and the supporters. And, he has had a great time there: clearly performing well when given the opportunity.“It was what my head needed, what my body was asking for” The ex-Magpie needed a break from Leicester, and he needed some game time. Real Betis offered that and are reaping the rewards of bringing the outcast home. Perhaps the Foxes were too rough on him, perhaps not intelligent enough to identify his strengths. The same can be said for these former outcasts.
