Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure previews the game at King Power Stadium on Monday in the Premier League survival race

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has warned his teammates they must be at their best to beat a “direct opponent” in Leicester City.

The two teams meet at King Power Stadium on Monday (8 pm kick-off) in a crucial game as both sides battle for Premier League safety. Both are in the relegation zone, with this the first of five games left to play.

Doucoure insists he realizes the importance of the game against Leicester and said “It is not only a fight” – suggesting it is much more than that to the Everton players.

“On Monday, we have to be on it,” he told the Liverpool Echo. “It’s a big game against a direct opponent trying to stay in the league. We have to win this game.

“Every game is very important at the minute. It’s not only a fight against Leicester, but we have to be on it come Monday.”

On Everton’s current plight, he added: “It is on my mind every day. It’s what we do in our life. Everton is massive for everyone.

“It is so important for the fans and for the people who work for the club. We, the players, don’t want to take the team down; it’s up to us to keep the club up.”
