Leeds star spotted with squad today at Bournemouth despite injury worry

Key injury doubt Max Wober has been spotted with the Leeds United squad at Bournemouth in a significant boost for Javi Gracia’s men, Graham Smyth reports.

The Austrian defender was a major concern in the run-up to the game, having come back from a previous injury suffered in the most recent international break, only to be ruled out again after the defeat at Fulham on (22 April).

The Whites’ defense has suffered in a big way without the January signing in the line-up, but he is with the squad alongside long-term absentee Stuart Dallas in a surprise development.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Smyth posted on Twitter ahead of kick-off: “Max Wober has traveled with the squad. Stuart Dallas with them too.”

Vital

Perhaps things are looking up after all as Gracia’s indications in his press conference this week weren’t especially positive on the Wober front.

But if he has traveled then he should be fit enough to feature, which could be the difference if this game turns out to be tight.

It shouldn’t be the case that one man in the back line determines whether there is any organization or not, but the former Red Bull Salzburg captain has made that sort of impact this season.

Liam Cooper’s return to the lineup has improved things slightly from the terrible displays in back-to-back home thrashings, but Wober is the key.

The Cherries were blown away 4-0 at home by West Ham in their last game at the Vitality (23 April), so if Leeds United can keep things tight at the back then perhaps they can do something similar in attack to secure a vital win.

With tough games coming up the pressure on this fixture is huge, with virtually nothing in the way of leeway between the Whites and the relegation zone so this news is encouraging.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared a surgery update that could rule another Elland Road ace out for months.
