West Ham’s talented young star sent a cryptic social media post that has fans wondering

Injured striker Gianluca Scamacca has sent a cryptic post on social media which has West Ham fans wondering.

It is fair to say Gianluca Scamacca’s debut season at West Ham has not turned out as he nor the club were hoping.

So much so that recently the club president who sold Scamacca to West Ham for £35m claimed he would not be surprised to see the striker move back to Italy in the summer.

The 6ft 5 Italian has suffered illness and injury this season as West Ham battles to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Scamacca was publicly questioned over his levels by David Moyes following his return from a knee injury that kept him out for two months in January.

He barely featured on his return, going four Prem games as an unused substitute. Then Scamacca was ruled out for the rest of the season in various reports after undergoing knee surgery recently.

Debut season to forget for a striker who had fans dreaming

Since then it has been suggested the striker has played his last game for West Ham. The likes of Juventus are said to be seriously interested.

And Claret and Hugh claim Scamacca could be sold this summer.

Now the forward has taken to Instagram with a message which is being read in different ways by some Hammers fans.

Scamacca has sent a cryptic post on social media which has West Ham fans wondering.

The post is a picture of Scamacca in a West Ham shirt – but changed to black and white. And it is simply accompanied by an hourglass emoji.

Many supporters have interpreted the message in very different ways.

Some are wondering whether Scamacca is suggesting an early return may be on the cards before the end of the season after his surgery.

Others think it might be his way of saying he is waiting to leave West Ham given the grey picture and taking the emoji to mean ‘time’s ticking down’.

On the flip side, some believe the striker is making it clear he is waiting to return to action with West Ham next season in a clear hint he has no intention of leaving.

Only Scamacca knows exactly what he means by the post.

But our take is that some supporters may be overthinking things. And the post is simply relaying that his wait goes on until he can play again.

One thing is for sure, West Ham could certainly do with him at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
