‘Just poor’: Souness says Tottenham 25-year-old has now been ‘found out’

Graeme Souness has said that Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero was “found out” against Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Liverpool legend has said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:52 pm, April 30, 2023) that Romero was responsible for two of the goals that Tottenham conceded against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Tottenham went down 4-3 to Liverpool.

Argentina international center-back Romero, 25, had a poor game and gave away a needless penalty.

Souness said: “Romero cost them two goals today, cost them the penalty and the other goal. It’s just poor defending, and at this level, you get found out.”

HITC Verdict: Romero needs to do better

In our view, Cristian Romero has not been at his best for a while now, and we believe that the Tottenham Hotspur central defender will have to step up his game.

Now, we know that the 25-year-old is a very good center-back.

After all, Romero was part of the Argentina team that won the Qatar World Cup.

However, the defender has struggled since coming back from the World Cup, especially in the last few matches.

Romero is making rash challenges and is getting more aggressive than he should be.

Yes, aggression is part of the Argentine’s match, but he needs to be on the right side of it.

Tottenham are slipping behind in the race for the UEFA Champions League places in the Premier League table this season.

And one of the big reasons behind that is the goals that Spurs are conceding.

The way Spurs shipped in goals after goals against Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Liverpool simply cannot happen.
