Robbie Keane says that Tottenham Hotspur bosses really likes Ryan Mason

Robbie Keane has said that the Tottenham Hotspur bosses really like Ryan Mason.

The former Tottenham striker has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:19 pm, April 30, 2023) that the Spurs hierarchy respect Mason and admires the work he has done at the club as a coach.

However, the Sky Sports pundit does not think that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will hire the 31-year-old on a permanent basis.

Mason was recently placed in charge of the Tottenham first team on an interim basis for the rest of the season.

The Englishman has told Sky Sports that he wants the Tottenham managerial role on a permanent basis.

Robbie Keane on Tottenham Hotspur and Ryan Mason

Keane said about Mason: “He has been there for a long time, Ryan. He knows the club inside out.

“I know he is a very, very good coach, well-respected in the dressing room by the players, and the people in the football club.”

The pundit added: “I think they might go down a different route.”

HITC Verdict: Unlikely to happen

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur is not going to appoint Ryan Mason as the manager of the first team on a permanent basis.

Mason is only 31 and does not have enough experience as a ‘manager’.

It is very different taking charge of a few games and being the manager over an entire season or for the long term.

Yes, Mason is a very good ‘coach’, but that does not mean that he is qualified to become the manager of the Spurs in the long run.

NEXT TOTTENHAM MANAGER: DANIEL LEVY WARNED ABOUT 50-YEAR-OLD

Graeme Souness has said that Tottenham Hotspur fans would not like it if chairman Daniel Levy brought in Brendan Rodgers.

The Liverpool legend has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:24 pm, April 30, 2023) that Rodgers, who has been linked with Tottenham, could have relegation attached to his CV if Leicester go down.

The former Celtic manager recently parted ways with Leicester.

The former Premier League champions are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Football Insider has reported that Tottenham chairman Levy has Rodgers, 50, on his list of potential managerial candidates.

Graeme Souness on Tottenham Hotspur and Brendan Rodgers

Souness said: “Brendan Rodgers could have his name attached to relegation if Leicester were to go down. Is that a fit for Spurs? Spurs supporters will be up in arms about that.”

HITC Verdict: Leicester struggles not an issue

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur fans will not be too bothered by Brendan Rodgers’s struggles at Leicester City this season.

The 50-year-old did well during his spell as manager of Liverpool, and he also won trophies after trophies with Celtic in Scotland.

And Rodgers almost guided Leicester to the UEFA Champions League places in the Premier League table.

The former Liverpool manager plays good football and can build teams, and a few bad months at Leicester does not change that at all.
