Jermain Defoe has absolutely raved about Declan Rice but tipped him to leave West Ham this summer.
We all know that Declan Rice is an exceptional footballer and Jermain Defoe highlighted just how good he thinks the 24-year-old West Ham skipper is.
Rice has been heavily linked with an exit from the Hammers with a move to Arsenal apparently on the cards for the midfielder this summer.
Losing the 24-year-old will be a hard pill to swallow for the West Ham fans. However, I feel like Rice moving on is a scenario that we have all made peace with now.
Defoe, another player who left the Hammers to join one of our London rivals, thinks he’ll be off at the end of the season…
Jermain Defoe admits he didn’t realize how ‘dynamic’ amazing West Ham ace is
The former Hammer was speaking on Premier League Productions (April 29th at 11:55 am) about Rice’s West Ham future.
Defoe absolutely raved about Dec, and tipped him to leave the London Stadium this summer:
“He’s got a personality. He seems to be improving. I remember ages ago, he spoke about Yaya Toure. Looking at Yaya’s game and how he can emulate that. Obviously, he has a long way to go, in terms of that level. But, at the same time, he is an amazing player. Powerful. The only negative is that he probably needs more goals and assists. He is brilliant. Always has a smile on his face. I didn’t realise how dynamic he is – we speak about the Yaya’s getting you up the pitch, but he is so powerful when he does that – It looks like he will be gone in the summer. To be available to play every game, that’s big for managers. For a young player at 24, what a chance for him now to go somewhere and kick on and go to the next level because the sky is the limit.”
That’s spot on from Defoe. A lot of people who don’t watch West Ham regularly don’t realize just how good Declan Rice is.
The 41-capped England international is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world in my opinion. However, he has so many more facets to his game than just sitting deep and controlling the tempo of the game.
The sky is the limit for Dec, we all know that, and it seems as though those outside of the London Stadium are starting to realize it as well.
Jermain Defoe is clearly a big fan of West Ham ace Declan Rice, but his comments about the 24-year-old are nothing that we don’t already know.
