Five Brighton players ‘ruled out’ of PL clash v Everton – injury expert

Injury expert shares Brighton update ahead of Premier League clash v Everton

Brighton and Hove Albion are set to be without five first-team players for their Premier League clash against Everton on Monday, according to injury expert, Ben Dinnery.

Adam Lallana is currently out and Dinnery doesn’t expect the former Liverpool man to return until 20 May at the earliest (Premier injuries).

Jakub Moder and Jeremy Sarmiento are also long-term absentees from Roberto de Zerbi’s squad and won’t feature against the Toffees. Joel Veltman and Tariq Lamptey are also out at present.

Win or bust

Sean Dyche’s side has picked up two impressive draws on the road against Crystal Palace and Leicester, but, unfortunately, solitary points won’t keep Everton in the Premier League. They have to start racking up wins, and fast. They’re firmly entrenched in the bottom three and simply have to put at least two wins on the board between now and the end of the season.

A trip to face Brighton is about as hard as it gets at present. De Zerbi’s side is coming off of an impressive 6-0 hammering of Wolverhampton Wanderers and has their sights set on European qualification.

Much has been made of the Seagulls’ impressive recruitment and it’s something Everton should be looking to replicate. Everything associated with the club is geared toward long-term success. They have replacements lined up for all their best players, many of whom turn out to be more impressive.

If the Toffees can secure their Premier League survival, longer-term planning has to be at the forefront of Kevin Thelwell’s thinking.

Brighton plans formal summer offer for Arsenal forward

Brighton are planning to make a formal offer to sign Reiss Nelson on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to a report.

Sami Mokbel reports for the Daily Mail that Brighton intends to make a formal offer to Reiss Nelson at the end of the current campaign.

As it stands, Nelson’s contract will expire at the end of the season, at which point he’ll be free to leave on a free transfer.

Arsenal have made the youngster an offer of a new contract, but he’s yet to accept it.

A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in Nelson, but it seems Brighton is the most serious about a move should he decide not to extend with Arsenal.

Brighton got a first-hand look at what Nelson can do in the League Cup clash between the two sides earlier this season. The winger provided an assist for Eddie Nketiah and was one of Arsenal’s best players in defeat.

Nelson has had other impressive cameos, including his two goals and an assist against Nottingham Forest, his dramatic goal and assist against Bournemouth, and recent positive substitute appearances against Manchester City and Chelsea.

But after just 526 minutes for the season so far, it’s understandable that Nelson is considering his options.

It’s very possible the winger might be able to break into the Arsenal team more often next season. If his strong form and development continue, you’d imagine Mikel Arteta will bet on him more regularly.

Arsenal will have to manage minutes better, with both the Premier League and the Champions League to think about, so it’s hard to imagine one lineup playing every game.

Nelson will have to make his own decision as to whether he thinks things are likely to keep improving for him next year, or whether a move on to Brighton appeals more.
