Tottenham has signed a €12m talented star

Despite signing Clement Lenglet as a stop-gap signing on loan from Barcelona, the club has been recently linked with a permanent move for him.

According to several reports Tottenham were planning on making him their first signing of the summer with Spanish outlet Sport reporting that Spurs were already in advance negotiations with Barcelona.

However, according to the latest update by Gerard Romero as reported by the Daily Hotspur, the “status of the deal is now unclear”.

Daily Hotspur tweeted:

LATEST: #thfc were close to signing Clément Lenglet permanently for €12M but now the status of the deal is unclear. | @gerardromero

This could possibly be due to the uncertainty surrounding the new managerial and Sporting director situation surrounding the club.

Barcelona are not interested in keeping him as they look to free up their wage bill ahead of the summer.

Lenglet has also been linked with a move to Inter but the player himself reportedly would prefer staying in London with Spurs.

Tottenham’s defense has been terrible this season and there is no doubt that the club will be seeking to address the situation.

They have been linked with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni, Stefan de Vrij, and Piero Hincapie earlier in the season and they could be some potential options.

But everything will ultimately come down to the new manager and the sporting director and their preferences.

This is why Spurs need to sort out their operations as soon as possible in order to bring stability to the club and start the rebuilding process under the new manager.
