Chris Sutton disagrees with Paul Merson in Fulham vs Leicester City prediction

The latest Leicester City news as Dean Smith’s men travel to Craven Cottage on Monday afternoon for what could be a crucial game in their hopes of staying in the Premier League at the end of the season.

Pundits Chris Sutton and Paul Merson are in disagreement about the outcome of Leicester City’s trip to Fulham in the Premier League on Monday afternoon (3 pm kick-off).

The Coronation of King Charles III this weekend has seen the trip down to London pushed back by two days. The city will therefore have an idea of what may be needed to move further away from the relegation zone.

City currently sits in 16th place in the table but is only out of the bottom three on goal difference. They are level on points with both Nottingham Forest and Leeds United, while Forest is not in action until Monday night, Leeds takes on champions Man City at the Etihad Stadium in Saturday’s 3 pm kick-off.

City are unbeaten in their last three games under Dean Smith, having drawn 2-2 with Everton in their last outing. Fulham, meanwhile, have lost their last three games by a one-goal margin.

Ahead of the game, both Merson and Sutton have given their predictions on the outcome, with the former expecting a third draw in a row for City.

“The clash between Everton and Leicester City last weekend was one of the best Premier League games I’ve ever seen – I didn’t want it to end!”

“It was a brilliant game with a bunch of goals and drama as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.

“As for Fulham, I thought they’d struggle without Aleksandar Mitrovic, but they’ve still managed to remain competitive without their talismanic striker. They’ve lost a few games, but they’ve played their socks off and are only getting beat by the odd goal.

“I see a lot of goals being scored here, so I’m going for a 2-2 draw.”

Paul Merson’s prediction: Fulham 2-2 Leicester

However, fellow pundit Sutton has backed Fulham to narrowly come out on top in the game, despite praising the improvement of Jamie Vardy in games under Smith.

“Leicester are desperate for points, but Jamie Vardy looks sharp again which is a big help,” he said.

I can’t understand why he didn’t take the penalty which James Maddison saw saved against Everton last time out, but he will definitely get the next one.

“The Foxes will give everything they have got, but I actually think Fulham are going to win. They have been very unlucky to lose their past three games by a one-goal margin, and played pretty well each time.”

Chris Sutton’s prediction: Fulham 2-1 Leicester
