Gary Lineker loses hope as Leicester collapse in torrid display at Fulham

Leicester are going down, according to Gary Lineker.

The club legend appeared heartbroken on Twitter as the Foxes fell to a 5-3 defeat at Fulham, collapsing to a 3-0 deficit at halftime.

Dean Smith’s side showed some fight, but it was far from enough in a fixture where they were targeting three points.

The match was a huge opportunity for a Leicester win, with their opponents in mid-table with neither relegation nor European football left to play for this season.

But instead, it was the Cottagers who set the early tempo, carving through Leicester with goals from Willian and Carlos Vinicius for a 2-0 lead within 18 minutes.

Shortly after Lineker tweeted: “Good heavens! @lcfc are going down”.

Tom Cairney then made it three a minute before half-time, giving Dean Smith’s side a near-insurmountable task in the second 45 minutes.

Things didn’t get any better for Leicester at the start of the second half with Cairney adding his second and Fulham’s fourth on 51 minutes.

Leicester threatened a late fightback, making it 4-1 through Harvey Barnes, but after Willian restored the four-goal lead, James Maddison and Barnes’ further efforts were in vain.

After this match, Leicester’s remaining games are Liverpool, Newcastle, and West Ham, and Lineker, their most famous supporter – Lineker- has already given up.

Their traveling fans didn’t seem any happier either, with many fuming in the away end at half-time.
