Jurgen Klopp will hope to receive backing from the Liverpool board this summer after an up-and-down Premier League season.

Liverpool is reportedly ramping up their interest in Paris Saint-Germain youngster El Chadaille Bitshiabu. The newcomer has rapidly made a name for himself in France, and a recent change of agents suggests that a move to Anfield could indeed be on the cards this summer.

Bitshiabu joined PSG’s academy at the age of 12. Just five years later, he is already making a splash in the first team, and top clubs from around Europe are beginning to take note.

Four Ligue 1 starts and six more appearances from the bench this campaign may have been more than the 17-year-old expected, particularly given that center-backs tend to mature later than prospects who play further up the pitch.

Standing at 6ft 5in, Bitshiabu is seen as an exciting talent, and Liverpool has moved to avoid missing a golden opportunity by registering their interest ahead of the summer window.

According to Le10 Sport, the Reds have made their ‘strong interest’ clear over the past few days. There is hope at Anfield that the youngster’s change of agents – with Jorge Mendes now in charge of his affairs – could indicate a blockbuster transfer on the horizon.

Bitshiabu’s current contract at the Parc des Princes expires in 2024, and the player’s camp is reportedly biding its time over whether to sign renewed terms or explore options elsewhere. The teenager is already capped up to France U19 level.

His last competitive appearance came in the 2-1 win over Angers last month. Luring Bitshiabu to the Premier League could come with huge benefits, given that he has spent the last year of his career learning from seasoned veterans Sergio Ramos and Marquinhos.

The Reds have shipped 42 goals in 35 Premier League games this season, with star defender Virgil van Dijk resembling a shadow of his former self as Jurgen Klopp’s side leaves it late to push for the top

Fellow center-back Ibrahima Konate remains a potential leader in seasons to come, while the Liverpool hierarchy faces important transfer decisions on Joel Matip, who is approaching the final 12 months of his contract, and Joe Gomez, who has only started 14 Premier League games this campaign.

With first-team football already available at PSG, Bitshiabu would presumably need assurances from Klopp if the opportunity to join Liverpool materializes. No final decision is believed to have been made over his next step in senior football.
