Report: Everton has signed amazing young star with 120 career goals

Crystal Palace and Everton have now made contact over a deal to sign James Rodriguez on a free transfer.

Both the Eagles and the Toffees are expressing an interest in the Colombia international following his departure from Olympiacos – according to AS.

It is also said that Brighton and Bournemouth are monitoring Rodriguez.

What’s the story?

Well, this would be quite the development.

AS believe Crystal Palace and Everton have enquired about the South American’s situation, and by the sounds of it, a deal is very feasible.

Journalist Christian Martin believes both sides have the finances required to pay Rodriguez’s wages, and the 31-year-old himself is keen to stay in Europe rather than explore ventures into places such as the United States and Saudi Arabia.

The Colombian – who has scored 120 career goals across spells at Real Madrid, Porto, Monaco, Bayern Munich, and other sides – is currently training in Madrid to keep himself fit ahead of the next chapter in his career.

Crystal Palace & Everton should avoid James Rodriguez

In our view, this wouldn’t be a smart move by either the South Londoners or the Merseysiders.

There is no denying that Rodriguez was once among the best footballers in Europe, but his best days are behind him.

Both Crystal Palace and Everton should be prioritizing younger options who they can rely on for a number of years, rather than a short-term option who may not even deliver.

Rodriguez scored just five goals in 23 appearances before Olympiacos and the attacking midfielder mutually decided to terminate their relationship, which isn’t exactly the best return.

If the Eagles and the Toffees fail to sign alternative options throughout the summer, then perhaps it would be worth considering a move in the latter stages of the transfer window.

At this stage of recruitment preparations, however, a deal for Rodriguez certainly shouldn’t be viewed as a priority.
