Leeds star out for season as Big Sam drops fresh update

Sam Allardyce has delivered a fresh update on Tyler Adams’ injury ahead of Leeds United hosting Newcastle United at Elland Road.

The Athletic reported on Tuesday (28 March) that the 24-year-old had undergone surgery on a hamstring issue, which would keep him out of action for a considerable amount of time.

Speaking in his latest press conference, Allardyce has revealed there’s “no prospect” of the American international returning.

“Allardyce says there’s no prospect of Tyler Adams being back for any of the remaining games,” wrote The Atheltic’s Phil Hay (via Twitter, 11 May).

No surprise

This should come as no surprise. The midfielder’s injury was serious and to throw him back into contention for the last three games would be foolish. Allardyce knows what he has to work with and the former West Brom boss will be confident in his ability to get the best out of the players. The performance against Manchester City was much-improved.

There was a significant difference in the way Leeds defended and if something similar can be replicated at Elland Road, they have a chance of picking up a positive result. Newcastle are coming off a defeat, albeit to Arsenal.

Eddie Howe’s men are still in desperate need of points in order to secure Champions League football and they won’t be taking their trip to Elland Road lightly. More the same if required from the Whites’ perspective. Three cup finals remain and at least four points are required if Leeds want to be a Premier League club come the start of the 2023/24 season.

In other Leeds United news, one talented Premier League manager has emerged as a potential candidate to take over as Whites’ boss for next season.
