Newcastle United has made a concrete move to sign a £52 million-rated star

Champions League-chasing Newcastle United are reportedly looking to ramp up their pursuit of OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram in an effort to beat Chelsea to the 22-year-old’s signature.

Newcastle United is keen on bringing Khephren Thuram to St. James’ Park when the summer transfer window opens. But they will have to move quickly if they want to win the transfer race. That is according to journalist Rudy

Khephren Thuram: Why Liverpool fans should be excited | FootballTransfers.com Galetti (via GIVEMESPORT), says the Magpies are looking to ‘speed things up’ in their pursuit of the Frenchman. Speaking to GMS, journalist Galetti said, “Khéphren Thuram is a midfielder who has enjoyed very good performances with Nice this season and is attracting the attention of many clubs, including Chelsea, PSG, and at the moment above all Newcastle.“To beat the fierce competition the Magpies want to speed things up, especially relating to the high possibility of qualification for the next Champions League where they want to arrive with a very competitive squad.”

Thuram has enjoyed an excellent season and, as a result, seen his stock rise as one of Europe’s most highly coveted young defensive midfielders. Although the Frenchman’s contract with Nice will not expire until 2025, the former AS Monaco youth academy star is expected to leave this summer.

As such, Chelsea are in talks over a possible move for the 22-year-old to Stamford Bridge. A right-footed box-to-box operator blessed with dribbling and tackling, Thuram is capable of playing as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder

Player fuels transfer claims – Newcastle United in the picture, the only club named as the destination

Newcastle United target Dominik Szoboszlai today fuelled the rumors about a potential departure from RB Leipzig this summer.

Szoboszlai starts to make up for lost time – DW – 08/20/2021

That happened in a short interview he had with the German outlet Bild, where it all started fine, with him not answering a question about transfer gossip.

“I don’t deal with that,” first said Szoboszlai.

It turns out that when Bild insisted a little, asking him if he’ll ‘definitely’ stay at the Bundesliga side, he claimed: “I didn’t say that.

“I’m definitely still with RB Leipzig for three games. I’d like to play in the Champions League and win my second trophy with RB Leipzig. We’ll see what happens after the summer.”

Bild then names Newcastle as a potential destination for him, claiming the Magpies have watched him ‘several times’. That’s the only interesting club mentioned in the story.

Back at the start of the month, the German media had already revealed Newcastle’s interest in Szoboszlai. It had been reported by Sky that the player has been scouted by the Magpies in several homes and away games this season, so that’s now confirmed by Bild.

That same report from Sky had claimed that the midfielder’s €70m release clause would need to be triggered for a summer sale. That fits with what Bild says today, claiming the German club can’t lose many more star players but have the need to make over €100m with sales this summer.

Szoboszlai is enjoying playing for RB Leipzig this season and has eight goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances so far.
