Nottingham Forest is looking to bring Nathan Redmond back to English football as he looks set to leave Besiktas.

The man who joined the Turkish club from Southampton will be out of contract during the summer.

Forest appointed Ross Wilson as the club’s Chief Football Officer recently and he’s signed Redmond previously.

He took the winger to St Mary’s Stadium from Norwich and he enjoyed a decent time of things on the south coast.

We're calling it now: Nathan Redmond has just won the Puskas Award

According to Fanatik, the Reds will try and sign Redmond at the same time as Romain Saiss who has been linked for some time.

Redmond has taken quite well to life in Turkey and this season he’s scored six goals and claimed six assists.

The 29-year-old signed for the club last summer but they surprisingly only gave him a one-year deal.

At Southampton, he spent six years at the club and made over 230 appearances, scoring 30 times for the club.

It did come as a bit of a shock when Ralph Hasenhuttl chose to sell him, given that the Austrian boss was a huge fan.

In 2019, he called the forward a ‘special’ player after a performance against the Wolves, and seeing him leave shocked the Saints fans.

Forest looking to bring Redmond back to England

This would be an intriguing signing and on a free transfer he could prove a useful addition to the squad.

Redmond is a quick player with an abundance of skill and he can also play in a number of forward positions.

At 29, however, he will perhaps be considered as having his best days firmly behind him as a Premier League player.

Still, Redmond would bring some depth to a squad that has sometimes been found lacking during the current campaign.

His wealth of experience could be integral to the club and on a free transfer it’s one that does make a bit of sense.

Nottingham Forest hit with punishment following City Ground scenes against Sheffield United

Nottingham Forest fans invaded the pitch after the home side reached the play-off final following a penalty shoot-out victory

Nottingham Forest have been fined following the scenes that marred last season’s play-off semi-final victory over Sheffield United. The tie was settled by a penalty shoot-out, which the home side won to secure a place in the final at Wembley.

Supporters then invaded the pitch, which led to Blades captain Billy Sharp being headbutted. The fallout from that match and the events that followed continued into this season, with Oli McBurnie going to court before being cleared.

Now, almost 12 months to the day since those unsavory scenes, an independent Regulatory Commission has fined Nottingham Forest £50,000.

The FA charged Forest with failing to ensure that its spectators – and all persons purporting to be its supporters or followers – conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from using threatening and/or violent behavior whilst encroaching onto the pitch following the final whistle.

The club partially admitted the charge and the independent Regulatory Commission imposed the club’s fine following a hearing. £25,000 of this fine has been suspended until the conclusion of the 2023/24 season provided Forest has no further breach of the FA Rule.

The FA summarised its case into four separate, but related, issues, which were: 1) Insufficient number of stewards; 2) Inappropriate deployment of stewards to prevent the mass pitch invasion; 3) Failure to protect tunnel and technical areas, and 4) failure to screen for pyrotechnics.

In paragraph 9 of its submissions dated 13 January 2023, Nottingham Forest made clear its acceptance of the charge related to issue 3 only. The other issues were not accepted.
