Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that Emmanuel Dennis has returned to training ahead of his side’s crucial Premier League meeting with Arsenal at the City Ground.
The Nigeria national teamer has not been included in the last two matchday squads announced by Cooper due to a minor injury he picked up in training before the home game against Southampton.
Dennis, who made a splash in the first half of last season at Watford, has yet to find his feed since transferring to the Reds, scoring just twice in twenty-six outings across all competitions.
The former Club Brugge man participated in group training ahead of the visit of Arsenal, providing Cooper with further options in attack.
Previewing Forest’s Premier League fixture against Arsenal, Cooper was quoted as saying by NottinghamshireLive: “Dennis is back in full training and looks good, which is good.”
He added: “We’ve got the usual knocks and niggles and fatigue that you get at this time of the season, which we’ve been managing for a while – every team will be the same. Apart from the long-term boys, we’re OK.”
Dennis is unlikely to play a significant role against the Gunners given that he recently recovered from injury and his rival for a starting spot Taiwo Awoniyi has hit form at the right time with back-to-back braces in his last two games in the top-flight.
Given their league position, Nottingham Forest goes into the game against Arsenal with their future in their own hands and will be one step from safety if they grind out a win on Saturday evening.
