Everton defender Seamus Coleman is unlikely to even return to light training before the end of the season, claims Dr. Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert asserts that the Toffees captain has been ruled out with damaged ligaments and while it’s not an ACL tear, it’s still a serious setback.

The Republic of Ireland international will require surgical reconstruction and he will require to be rehabilitated throughout the summer.

Speaking exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “Coleman had ligament damage in the knee.

“All we know is that it wasn’t the ACL so the ligament was damaged enough that it required surgical reconstruction.

“Very very little chance he’s in light training before the end of the season. His rehab will continue into the summer.”

The 34-year-old has been the first-choice right-back for the Toffees this season and has featured in 23 Premier League games.

Despite his age, he has managed to start ahead of the likes of Nathan Patterson and Ben Godfrey and has led by example for Everton.

Initially, it seemed like he was going to be ruled out for the remainder of the calendar year but there’s good news on that front and he could be back in time for the start of next season.
