The 48-year-old has been out of work since he was dismissed from his post at Chelsea just hours after Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Leicester.

Potter is expected to receive a number of offers from leading English and foreign clubs after taking a short break from management at the end of this season.

It is believed he is a top contender for the Leicester post and is set to be contacted by the club to ascertain his interest in taking over.

Dean Smith, who was appointed to replace Rodgers, is not expected to survive even if Leicester somehow escapes relegation.

That is looking unlikely going into their final two matches of the campaign, starting with Monday night’s trip to Newcastle United.

The Foxes are currently second bottom of the Premier League table with just two matches of the current campaign remaining.

Smith’s side is three points from safety with high-flyers Newcastle and fellow strugglers West Ham still to play.

Potter was sacked by Chelsea after just under seven months in charge of the London club.

Over the 31 matches he took charge of, the Blues won 17, drew nine, and lost 12.

Potter oversaw losses in the League Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League as well as in the Premier League leaving Chelsea without the hope of any European football next season.

In other news, Five more Leicester City stars could follow James Maddison and Harvey Barnes out the door.
