Doucoure had found himself out of favor at the beginning of the campaign under former boss Frank Lampard. He had been exploring a January exit but has emerged as a key figure since the appointment of Sean Dyche later the same month.

The Mali international has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals, and has been utilized in a more advanced midfield role under Dyche.
Doucoure joined Everton from Watford in the summer of 2020.

Speaking to The Athletic in July 2022, Doucoure expressed his desire to sign a new contract and commit his long-term future to the club.

“I spoke to the club. They know my position. I want to stay here for much longer,” Doucoure said.

“With one year left, you want to know what is going on. But at the moment everything is a bit calm. Let’s see before the end of the transfer window how it can change. Maybe the club have time to reflect on me and see how they want to plan with me in the future.

“I enjoy being here a lot. I want to commit to the club in the future. For three or four years more.”

Everton conclude their 2022-23 season on Sunday with the visit of Bournemouth as Dyche’s side attempt to preserve their Premier League status.
