Report: Midfielder Rangers want to sign about to complete £3m transfer to Sunderland

Rangers look set to miss out on the signing of Jobe Bellingham to Sunderland.

According to 90min, Jobe Bellingham, who has been linked with Rangers, is on his way to Sunderland.

The midfielder is on the books of Birmingham City at the moment.

Liverpool the favourites in race to sign Jobe Bellingham but will face PL competition

The 17-year-old is now reportedly set to leave Birmingham for Championship rivals Sunderland in the summer transfer window.

The Black Cats are about to agree to a £3 million deal with the Blues for Bellingham, according to 90min.

The chance to play regularly for Sunderland has appealed to Bellingham, who is the younger brother of Borussia Dortmund and England international midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Earlier in the season, Rangers were linked with Bellingham.

In December 2022, TEAMtalk reported that Rangers are among the clubs who are keen on signing the teenager in the summer of 2023.

However, it seems that it is Sunderland who is going to sign Bellingham, not Rangers.

Rangers should keep tabs on Jobe Bellingham at Sunderland

In our view, just because Jobe Bellingham is about to join Sunderland should not end the Rangers’ interest in the teenager.

We believe that the Rangers scouts should continue to monitor the midfielder at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland finished in the Championship playoffs this season.

And it is very likely that the Black Cats will aim for automatic promotion next season.

Bellingham would play his role, and Rangers would be able to judge better just how good he is playing for a very big club who are determined to be successful.

We believe that Rangers should follow Bellingham and perhaps next summer or the year after, they could move for him.

The youngster made five starts and 17 substitute appearances in the Championship for Birmingham this season.
