‘Ready-made’: Tim Sherwood is shocked Tottenham did not appoint the ‘best manager in the world’

Tim Sherwood has expressed his disbelief at the fact that Tottenham Hotspur chose not to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager.

The ex-Spurs boss made this claim on Premier League Productions, as the Argentine has now officially joined Chelsea.

While there was a divide of opinion about whether Tottenham Hotspur should have brought Mauricio Pochettino back, Tim Sherwood certainly believes he was the perfect manager for the situation they find themselves in.

Since then, Julian Nagelsmann has rejected the vacancy in N17, Luis Enrique is ‘in talks with Napoli and Arne Slot has signed a new contract with Feyenoord.

Branded as the ‘best manager in the world’ by Andros Townsend via talkSPORT, the former PSG coach certainly remains the club’s best-ever man in charge.

As a result, Tim Sherwood is still in shock about how Tottenham decided not to appoint Mauricio Pochettino, who did an incredible job during his time as the club’s manager.

“He changed the fortunes of Tottenham around and I think he will do the same at Chelsea.”

Tim Sherwood also pinpointed how a manager like Mauricio Pochettino suits Tottenham a lot more than they recent appointments, “He was a ready-made man for them, it’s better the devil you know than the one you don’t. They keep trying to bring the next manager in, they’ve tried trophy managers like [Antonio] Conte and [Jose] Mourinho, they had the ready-made manager there and Chelsea has stolen a march and credit to them because he will make them a success again.”

Hard to disagree with Tim Sherwood

While Tottenham are clearly trying to become a winning club, Tim Sherwood is right in pointing out that a manager like Mauricio Pochettino would have been perfect to fix the mess they find themselves in.

Spurs cannot have aims of contending for major honors without first stabilizing the ship and having a long-term plan in place to win trophies in the future.

Instead, it seems like the club has no clear idea of which approach to take in the long run, as it is baffling how they did not jump at the chance of appointing Pochettino.
