coventry city have dropped a huge hint they want £2.5m-rated Nottingham Forest young star

Coventry City might have dropped a hint that they want to sign Nottingham Forest talent Jonathan Panzo on a permanent deal. The Reds’ center-back has seen his loan spell end after Saturday’s defeat in the Championship Play-Off Final.

The Sky Blues secured a bit of a coup when they added the Forest Man last summer. Shortly after the Reds won promotion it was decided that Panzo would head out on loan rather than competing for a place in the Premier League squad.

Steve Cooper knows all about Panzo and he signed him in January 2022. The defender was an integral part of the England under-17 squad that lifted the World Cup in 2017, with the current Forest head coach overseeing proceedings.

Panzo enjoyed his time at Coventry during 2022/23. He did pick up an injury that saw him lose his place in the starting eleven for a little while, but he still managed to play 32 times for the Sky Blues in all competitions.

On Saturday, Coventry suffered heartache. They were beaten 6-5 on penalties by Luton who secured a return to the top flight for the first time in 31 years.

That saw the curtain drop on Panzo’s 2022/23 campaign. What the future holds for the defender remains to be seen but a return to Coventry might be on the cards.

Coventry might have dropped a hint about signing Panzo from Forest

After leaving the Coventry Building Society Arena, Panzo has taken to Instagram. He’s thanked the club for his loan spell and spoken of his upset at failing to help the club into the Premier League.

Rangers have previously been linked with Panzo. Michael Beale is a huge fan and it’s thought that he is keen to take the player north of the border.

It’s been suggested that Forest wants £2.5 million for their defender. That fee would still represent a profit for Forest who paid Dijon a very small fee.

However, Coventry could hold the aces when it comes to signing the Forest man this summer.

After Panzo posted an emotional message on Instagram the club reacted. They posted a response that read, ‘Big things to come, Panz!’ and naturally that will have supporters intrigued.

Surely, they wouldn’t have posted that if they had no aspirations of re-signing him this summer.

Now, it will be very interesting to see where Panzo does end up playing football next season. It doesn’t seem as though it will be Forest and Coventry might prove a very decent move for the player.
