Everton are in a Premier League battle to sign Manchester United forward Amad Diallo but any potential deal hinges on a key Old Trafford decision, according to 90Min.

Erik ten Hag forced into imminent decision as 13-goal Man Utd flop is chased by European giants

The talented Ivorian forward had endured a difficult spell in Manchester following his £37.2million move from Atalanta to Old Trafford in January 2021 [Sky Sports], followed by a rather disastrous six-month loan spell at Rangers under Giovanni van Bronckhorst during the 2021/22 campaign.

And according to a report from the Northern Echo, Everton is believed to be keen on signing the incredibly gifted 20-year-old winger to boost their attacking weaponry for next season.

90Min [15 June] now shares that Premier League newcomers Burnley have joined Everton, West Ham, and Fulham to sign the Old Trafford gem.

However, interested clubs will likely have to wait until after pre-season before knowing whether or not Diallo is going out on loan again.

Man Utd manager Erik Ten Hag is keen to assess the player during their pre-season before making a decision on his short-term future at Old Trafford.

Must pursue

Given the difficult and testing financial climate Everton finds itself in right now, the loan market this summer may be deemed as a smart and sustainable route to exploit.

Everton has been in desperate need of more options in attack for months since Sean Dyche’s appointment after failing to add a single addition in January after selling Anthony Gordon to Newcastle and Richarlison to Tottenham back last summer. Also, it remains to be seen whether Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray will be Toffees players come the new season, in which an attacking reinforcement will desperately need to be made.

Diallo, hailed as “Incredible” by his former Sunderland teammate Luke O’Nien, seems the perfect and arguably the most astute attacking reinforcement Everton could make for next season.

The 2022/23 campaign proved his eventual breakout season as he proved a Black Cat hero for Sunderland during their sensational Championship playoff exploits, scoring 14 goals and registering three assists from 39 games.

The 20-year-old ranked fifth in the Championship last season for goal-creating actions (20), seventh for successful take-ons (62), seventh for non-penalty goals (4.3), and 1st for goal-creating actions per 90 minutes [FBRef] showcasing he is now ready for a Premier League breakthrough next season.

Considering the potential battle for Diallo’s signature, this is a deal Everton must pursue this summer.
