GREAT NEWS: ‘Progress has been made’ on Tottenham deal to sign central defender

Despite some hurdles, it seems Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have made ‘progress’ in the transfer of Clement Lenglet, but there is still some way to go before the deal is complete.

After a fairly solid showing on loan for Tottenham last season, Lenglet has now returned to Barcelona and is looking to resolve his future. All signs point to the Frenchman leaving the Catalan club this summer.

A recent report from Sport.es revealed just how desperate the Spanish side is to get Clement Lenglet off their books, as his departure is part of a financial promise they made to La Liga last year.

According to a piece from Mundo Deportivo last week, both Barcelona and Tottenham were pushing hard to get the deal completed before the end of the month.

However, that same publication reported just yesterday that Spurs were now hesitating about the transfer and had started to look at other options to fulfill their defensive needs.

Clement Lenglet to Spurs is back on track

Now, the latest from Sport.es suggests things are heading in the right direction and that Spurs may end up singing Lenglet after all.

Apparently, there has been an “advance in the transfer” and Barcelona is still hoping to “close the operation” by the end of June.

Spurs are still keen to take Lenglet permanently, and it is believed “progress has been made.” It’s not over the line yet, however, and we should expect “a few more meetings to reach a final agreement.”

It is clear just how important it is for Barca to get the deal concluded before June 30th, but it is claimed that Spurs and Lenglet are “not in such a hurry.”

The back and forth over this transfer is becoming a bit silly now and I really hope we can get it finalized soon. If we are going to sign Lenglet, then it should be pretty straightforward; if not, we should move on and acquire other targets.
