BREAKING NEWS: ‘A shame’ – Player admits he is leaving Tottenham with ‘a tinge of regret’

Lucas Moura has said that while he thoroughly enjoyed his five-and-a-half-year spell at Tottenham, he does regret the fact that he was not able to lift a trophy during his time in North London.

Moura’s spell at Spurs came to a fairytale end, with the winger scoring with his final kick of the ball in a Tottenham shirt as the Lilywhites came away 4-1 winners against Leeds in their final Premier League game of the 2022-23 season.

The 30-year-old was in tears in front of the traveling Spurs fans at Elland Road, who was signing his name loudly, and he has now admitted that it hurts to leave the club where he has grown as a player and a person.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star insisted that he will always look back fondly on his time at Spurs but remarked that he leaves with a tinge of sadness since he was not able to win silverware despite coming close on a couple of occasions.

Mixed emotions for Lucas Moura as he leaves Spurs

When asked about his exit from Tottenham, Moura told L’Equipe: “It’s a mixture of emotions, I think. I’m leaving with my head held high and with the feeling of a job well done.

“I’ve built something solid and made my mark on the history of Tottenham, but I’m also leaving the club with a twinge of regret. It hurts to leave this club, my teammates, the city…

“It will remain a positive experience. I’ve grown and progressed. My only regret is not winning a title. That’s a shame.”

It is a shame that the likes of Lloris, Moura (and potentially Dier) will leave Tottenham this summer without having any silverware to show for their efforts, just as the likes of Vertonghen, Dembele, Eriksen, Rose, Dele, and co.

This group of players was an extremely likable bunch and deserved to win trophies and write their name into Tottenham’s history.
