GREAT NEWS: Tottenham have agreed personal terms with La Liga defender – will sign a three year contract

Tottenham are closing in on signing Clement Lenglet from Barcelona.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Sport which also claims that the club has agreed personal terms with the defender.

Spurs signed Lenglet on loan from Barcelona last summer who was considered to be a stop-gap signing at that time after the club failed to sign any of their top priority center-backs.

But it seems that the 28-year-old left a lasting impression on the club’s hierarchy who are now interested in signing him on a permanent deal but at a reduced price.

The club has been engaged in talks with Barcelona with the Spanish club seeking a fee in the region of £13 million and £17 million, which is more than what Spurs were willing to pay for him.

Rudy Galetti claimed that while Spurs are interested in him, they would not engage in prolonged negotiations with Barcelona and would move on if they do not sell him at a reduced fee.

The Spanish club is in financial trouble of its own and will be desperate to cash in on the defender who is not part of their future plans.

And so, according to the latest report by the Spanish outlet, they have reduced their asking price with a fee in the region of £9m now being discussed between the two clubs.

It adds that the player has already agreed personal terms with the club and will sign a three-year contract if all goes well.

He is not expected to be the only defender that Ange Postecoglou plans on signing with the club also linked with the likes of Edmond Tapsoba, Micky van de Ven, and Harry Maguire.

Tottenham are making moves in the transfer window early on having already signed Dejan Kulusevski and Guglielmo Vicario. They are also reportedly closing in on signing James Maddison from Leicester City.
