Nathan Ferguson: Player Profile

Crystal Palace defender Nathan Ferguson has signed a new one-year contract extension at the club despite playing only eight games in three years according to a report in the Evening Standard.

Ferguson joined Crystal Palace from West Brom in 2020 with high hopes, but his time in south London has been a nightmare with injuries limiting his impact and threatening to end his career.

The Eagles have shown incredible faith in the 22-year-old defender by backing and offering him a contract extension that will see him stay at the club at least till the summer of 2024 with the hope that he can stay fit and rediscover his form.

Last season he played five times in the Premier League Two and made one substitute appearance for the first team as he battled to return to full fitness without success.

The South London club is on the verge of naming Roy Hodgson as their manager for next season after he impressed in the last 10 games after taking over from Patrick Vieira.

Hodgson won five and drew three of the last 10 games as Palace recovered from a position of weakness to finish comfortably in midtable and secure Premier League survival.

Latest Crystal Palace transfer news and rumors as they prepare for the next Premier League season

Crystal Palace have the chance to bring in some reinforcements to their squad over the next couple of months. The new transfer window is open for business ahead of the next Premier League season.

The Eagles finished in 11th position in the last campaign. Here is a look at some of the latest transfer news and rumors coming out of the club…

Competition for target

Crystal Palace will have to see off plenty of competition if they are to win the race to sign Gambian youngster Adama Bojang this summer. The Evening Standard claims league rivals Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are all ‘monitoring’ the 19-year-old progress at the moment. He currently plays for Steve Biko FC but they are facing a real battle to keep hold of him.

Defender on radar

The Eagles are apparently keen on signing Torino defender Perr Schuurs and will ‘step up’ their ‘interest’ in the Serie A ace, as per a report by the Daily Mail, with Newcastle United and Napoli also mentioned as potential suitors. The 23-year-old, who is a former Holland youth international, moved to Italy last year from Ajax and has adapted well to life in Serie A over the past 12 months. He made 36 appearances in all competitions in the last campaign, 30 of which came in the league.

Departed attacker eyed

BirminghamLive claim Birmingham City is weighing up a move for Junior Dixon following his departure from Crystal Palace. The 18-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving South London and has a big decision to make on where to go next. He spent time on trial with the Blues last term and they are now believed to be interested in snapping him up on a permanent basis as they look to bolster their youth ranks.
