LUTON TOWN SIGN FORMER LOANEE MARVELOUS NAKAMBA FROM ASTON VILLA

Luton Town have announced the signing of Marvelous Nakamba, with the midfielder joining from Aston Villa on a permanent deal after an initial loan spell.

The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with the Bedfordshire club, but will now move on a full transfer from Villa Park to Kenilworth Road.

Zimbabwean international Nakamba has signed a 3-year contract with Luton and moved for an undisclosed fee.

Nakamba had initially made the move to Luton in the January transfer window, making 19 appearances in all competitions, including in the Championship play-off final when Luton beat Coventry to win promotion to the Premier League. The midfielder would score in the penalty shootout that decided the contest against the Sky Blues.

Before his move to Luton, Nakmba had made over 65 appearances in all competitions for Aston Villa after signing from Belgian side Club Brugge in 2019, including 58 Premier League appearances.

Nakamba told the official Luton Town website of his joy at being able to return to the club.

He said, “I’m very excited to be back home in Luton to continue the journey.

“When I joined on loan, I felt love from everyone – the manager, the board, the staff, the players, and the fans. I was welcomed as part of the family and that pushed me to give everything for this club and help achieve the goal we had last season, which we did.

“The fans really welcomed me and made me feel energized and motivated to do well, so it was unbelievable to pay them back in the way that we did. To see them at Wembley celebrating brought tears of joy. It was real love.

“Over the summer the manager has been saying ‘You need to be here!’ and I’m so happy, so excited to now be back and ready for the season.”
