According to John Percy, the Reds have booked the player in for a medical over the weekend. It means that Elanga will be leaving United’s training camp in the USA to head back to England.

The youngster has risen through the youth team ranks at Old Trafford. He’s made 55 appearances for the United first team, scoring four goals and claiming as many assists for the Red Devils.

In the player’s defense, however, he’s found regular game time hard to come by. Last season he averaged just 26 minutes on the pitch over the course of the season and he will be wanting more at Forest.

In recent days, it’s been claimed that Elanga had rejected a move to Everton. Now, the Daily Mail claims that the United man is keen to work with Steve Cooper and favors a move to Forest.

Elanga can operate on either flank. During his time at United, he’s been praised by Ralf Rangnick and his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also raved about him in the past.

Things look to be gathering pace behind the scenes at the City Ground. Providing Elanga passes his medical, he looks set to become the next Forest signing after Ola Aina.

The Reds could be getting themselves a big signing. Forest is signing Elanga at a time when he has a point to prove and when he’ll be desperate to play regular first-team football.

Some fans may hold reservations over Elanga coming to Forest. He hasn’t played a lot of football and perhaps fans would have preferred a signing who has a little bit more experience to come in.

That said, it seems as though Steve Cooper has persuaded Elanga to come to Forest. That aspect alone can only bode well and it will be interesting to see how he gets on at the City Ground.
