Huddersfield Town signs defender Tom Edwards on season-long loan from Stoke City

Huddersfield Town has secured the services of defender Tom Edwards, who joins the club on a season-long loan from fellow Sky Bet Championship side Stoke City.

The 24-year-old right back, who can also play in central defence and midfield, brings with him experience from his time in the Championship and Major League Soccer.

Edwards has already racked up over 130 senior appearances, most notably with Stoke City and New York Red Bulls.

Speaking about the signing, Huddersfield Town Manager Neil Warnock said, “A right back has been a priority for us this summer due to Ollie Turton’s injury, so it’s great that we can welcome Tom to the club today. He fits the bill in terms of what we were looking for. He matches the rest of the squad as a good, solid character and a hard worker.”

Warnock highlighted Edwards’s Championship experience and his readiness to make an immediate impact given his recent involvement with Stoke’s first-team pre-season.

“He’s shown his ability during his career, but when you speak to him it’s clear how desperate he is to show exactly what he’s capable of with us. I’m sure our fans will get right behind him in our colours this season,” Warnock added.

Huddersfield Town Unsure On Future Of In-demand Attacker

Huddersfield Town are unsure on shipping out forward Kyle Hudlin again this summer despite the player being subject to League One outfits’ loan interest, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Hudlin, 23, arrived at the John Smith’s Stadium last year from non-league club Solihull Moors on a two-year deal, initially joining the Terriers second string.

He was loaned to AFC Wimbledon last season, but he struggled to find the net in the League Two campaign.

He was recalled by the Terriers in January this year but despite that fact, he has yet to play first-team football for Huddersfield.

Now with the English forward entering the final year of his contract with Neil Warnock’s side, he has been linked with several League One sides.

His suitors want to land him on a loan deal but it is now suggested that Huddersfield are undecided about shipping out the forward again this summer.

It is still unclear if Hudlin is in Warnock’s plans moving forward or if he will be given a contract renewal.

Now all eyes will be on the Terriers to see whether they will find a resolution to the future of the forward ahead of next season’s campaign or not.
