Wrexham Announces Signing of Will Boyle as First Defensive Addition for the Summer

Phil Parkinson, the manager of Wrexham AFC, has made his first signing of the summer transfer window by adding Will Boyle to the team. Boyle, who previously played for Championship side Huddersfield Town, is known for his strong defensive capabilities as a left-footed defender.

Boyle began his career at Huddersfield Town and made his debut for the club in February 2015. He later had loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers and Macclesfield Town before joining York City on a short-term loan deal. In 2016, he moved to Scotland to play for Kilmarnock on a six-month loan.

According to a report by Wrexhamafc.co.uk, Boyle returned to Huddersfield in January 2017 but was eventually released by the club. He then made a significant move to Cheltenham Town, where he played a crucial role in helping the team retain their League Two status. In the following season, Cheltenham Town won the League Two title, and Boyle was named in the EFL League Two Team of the Season.

Boyle continued to excel in League One, making 31 appearances for Cheltenham Town in the 2021/22 season and scoring four goals. After spending over five years at Cheltenham, he returned to Huddersfield on a free transfer in 2022 and made 16 appearances in the Championship during the 2022/23 season.

Now, Boyle has joined Wrexham AFC on a three-year deal, bringing his career full circle. Wrexham AFC is excited to have him as their first defensive signing of the summer, solidifying their defensive ranks for the upcoming season

Meanwhile, Wrexham AFC has also announced the contract extensions of goalkeeper Ben Foster and the signing of midfielder Owen Cushion. Foster has signed a one-year contract, committing to play until the end of the 2023/24 season. Cushion, on the other hand, has signed his first professional contract with the club.
